Customer Reviews for Umarex Walther CP88 CO2 NBB Pellet Gun

Brand: Umarex Canada

Type: Pellet air pistol
Manufacturer: Umarex
Model: Walther CP88 Blued/Matte Black
Materials: Mostly metal construction
Weight: 2.25 pounds
Barrel: 3.75 inches, metal rifled
Propulsion: CO2 x 1
Action: Semi-auto, single and double action
Ammunition Type: .177 caliber pellets
Ammunition Capacity: 8 rotary magazine
FPS: 393

Trigger Action: The trigger pull of the Umarex Walther CP88 is exceptionally smooth in both single and double-action modes, with the single action providing a lighter pull that greatly aids in accurate shooting.

Shooting Precision: Firing this airgun from a distance of 20 feet in a standing position, it achieved remarkable accuracy, maintaining a two-inch grouping near the target's center across three magazines, or 24 rounds. Although my shots were slightly high and to the right, the adjustable windage sights are a convenient feature for correcting minor aiming discrepancies. In my Chrony test, an eight-shot average yielded 360 fps using 6.9 grain RWS pellets.

Construction Quality: This airgun is predominantly metallic, boasting a robust build with a satisfying 2.25-pound weight. Crafted in Germany, its quality is evident. The only plastic components are the hard, matte black grips, which complement the airgun’s overall aesthetic. The mechanical operations are impressively smooth.

Authenticity: The Umarex Walther CP88 is an officially licensed replica of the Walther P88 semi-automatic pistol, closely mirroring its appearance except for the slide break for magazine access and the additional 'C' in its name.

  • Predominantly metal build with a solid feel, weighing 2.25 pounds
  • German craftsmanship
  • Includes a durable hard-shell case
  • Attractive matte black/blued finish
  • Windage-adjustable rear sight
  • Smooth, light triggers in both double and single-action modes
  • Realistic ambidextrous safety feature
  • High accuracy, decent FPS for a pellet shooting pistol, and efficient CO2 use

  • Priced higher than entry-level models, but offers superior quality
  • Sights may be difficult to distinguish against dark backgrounds
  • Engraved markings on the right side are somewhat conspicuous against the black color

I am thoroughly impressed with this airgun – from its size and appearance to its German engineering and shooting performance. The Umarex Walther CP88 air pistol is a model worth saving for, offering the pleasure of both owning and shooting a high-quality airgun. While it lacks certain features like blowback action or a full-size drop-out magazine found in flashier, modern air pistols, its shooting experience is genuinely enjoyable and engaging.

Not happy with this gun

I have tried numerous kinds of pellets, Makes shapes and sizes. Its beyond me how it can be considered accurate. And it uses way too much co2. Power goes down real fast. Very disappointed for these reasons. A shame because it is well built and looks good

First Impression

Just got it a few days ago. Not sure when I will get a chance to shoot it. The quality is very good. It has a nice weight/balance to it. Yes the printing on the right side is a bit annoying but I plan to dull it a bit with dabs from a sharpy. I must remember to be careful to not to over due it and end up with smudges all over the place. The carrying case is decent. I should get cases for the rest of my BB pistols. Overall it was a great purchase. I hope to get out soon and test it out.

Looks great, feels great, shoots great.

With the metal build of the gun it not only looks and feels like the real thing it shoots with consistent accuracy. The only thing is as with all CO2 Cartridge pistols using mass produced pellets the fps is pretty variable. All in all its a great feeling gun that gives excellent performance.

Just holding it in your hand; you know you got something special.Almost an exact replica of the P88 too. It's such a slick piece, nearly all metal construction and as realistic as can be.Accuracy is fantastic and has been holding up well.Comes in a nice black case with two Umarex magazines.I've had mine for over a year and there's been almost no problem. One tiny thing though.. the screw under the muzzle fell out on me one time during a session, luckily was able to find it in the grass. Good to keep an eye on that or get some thread lock on it.All in all, beautiful!
