Trigger Pull: The KWC P226-S5 has an awesome single-action trigger. If you're not ready, it can almost get away on you but after a couple of shots, you will easily figure out the break and release points and be hitting targets down range with ease from this super short and light trigger. It also has a double-action trigger if you decide to lower the hammer but need to take a quick shot. The blowback action is one of the heavier ones you will find on a CO2 blowback gun, and the gun itself is fairly large and on the heavy side but at the same time really well-balanced and a joy to shoot.

Accuracy: The fastest airsoft BB achieved was 327 FPS and the slowest came in at 298 FPS, with a five-shot average of 312 FPS. That might seem low but in terms of a close-range airsoft gun this is ideal. Next up for my Field Test Shooting Review, I shot 10 rounds and they all easily found their mark close together on the paper target. 8 of the 10 shots grouped within a 3/4 inch hole with 2 shots coming out just a bit, extending the grouping to about 2-3 inches. With light airsoft BBs, some shots will stray, but the fact that 8 out of 10 shots pretty much made one small hole shows that this airsoft pistol is very accurate, to say the least.

Build Quality: Very good, pretty much an all-metal construction, good weight and craftsmanship, slide wiggle is minimal, fit and finish is good. As with many of the KWC airguns that use an electromagnetic powder coating, the finish looks great but is thin so it does wear off on the high posts and where metal-on-metal movement takes place.

Realism: Compared to the real steel Sig Sauer X-Five, the KWC version is pretty close. It does have a different-looking slide with grooves or slide serrations, and there is no licensing on the KWC version. You also don't get the ugly white warning instructions so there is a trade-off here. The KWC version also comes with a fully adjustable rear sight, which is nice if your aim point is off a bit. Overall, the KWC P226-S5 is super realistic with its full blowback operation, full-size drop-out metal magazine, and ability to field strip just like the real steel Sig Sauer.

  • Full metal construction has extremely good weight for a solid-feeling gun
  • Heavy blowback action
  • Accurate X-Five replica without the licensing or white warning instructions
  • Awesome training gun
  • Both SA & DA with very smooth and light trigger pull
  • Fully adjustable rear sight for windage and elevation
  • High-capacity size drop metal magazine
  • Fully field strippable

  • FPS and shots per CO2 are sacrificed because of the heavy blowback but worth it
  • The finish is prone to wear on the high spots and metal-on-metal areas

Comments: This BB pistol is styled after the modern Sig Sauer P226 X-Five. It is a very hefty gun made almost entirely from metal and has a very snappy blowback action which adds to its shooting realism. Even the magazine looks and feels like a real magazine with its similar weight and dimensions. The gun shoots fairly accurately and has fairly decent power considering its blowback function, which does result in heavy CO2 usage. I was able to get about 3 magazines out of a CO2 cartridge. This is one of my favorite airguns because its so true to form and function. If you're a Sig Sauer fan like me, and require a solid useable pistol for gaming or just plinking, the KWC SP226-S5 should do the job well and at a very reasonable price point.

Good replica with some quirks

This is a big, heavy pistol and feels great in the hand. The adjustable sights are very welcome and I was able to easily zero in the pistol for superb groupings at my target range. Unfortanately the magazine I got with this is prone to a very slow leak which is temporarily solved with a little oil but it probably means the seal is worn or brittle and I am looking at some kind of failure in the next while. The action on this is very heavy and doesn't always follow through properly, especially on the last half of the gas -- often the hammer won't set properly on the blowback and you have a double-action pull in order to fire. Fortunately there's a half-cock position that it rests in so you don't wind up with an unintended full-auto fail. Only gets three mags to a CO2 cart, which is kind of dismal compared to the KWC 1911 or others, but it is a very heavy gun so that gas is doing a lot of work. Some machining problem makes the slide a little sticky -- I think the mag stop sits a little too high and rubs the slide. If I can stop that rub some of the other problems might go away. 4 stars for value because I got it on sale. At full price I'd be disappointed. Update: got a second mag that fails the same way. Some design problem I expect; shelving this gun until I can work out a fix. Update to the update: got a third mag that seems to hold gas. Maybe KWC updated the design a little? Who knows. Happy now.

A good spare secondary pistol

I just got this gun and the first impression out of the box is really great. The good amount of weight, the slide cocking sound, the magazine is realistic. Some paint wear is expected because its KWC gun. However, what surprise me is the grip does not attach to each other well even I tried to tighten the screws. I can see the "crack" between the grips where the two pieces of the grips meet.

good starter pistol

I have been using this 226 a long while ago and it as worked wonders its only downfall to me is the lack of propper sight but apart from that it has lived trough hell and came out glorious as sand, mud, dust, water and more than enough falls to break any pistol this one just keep on kicking since recoil is pretty nice for smallarm and accuracy is, once your used to the sights, very good up to mid range it is my favorite sidearm so far and I have twelve pistol ranging from mauser and magnum to m9 and glock so far hes the best of all for durability and acuracy grouping 1 inch in twenty shots thirty feet away very good buy.
