Fantastic Replica, okay Airsoft Gun

I bought the digital desert camo version of this gun because I knew its reputation for having a very nice body, and when I got it, I could not complain. It feels really good in the hands, and the bolt has the most satisfying action I've ever seen in an airsoft replica. Ironically, the problem it has for me is very similar to the problem the M14 had in real life. It's really big relative to what else is out there, and it's not a very comfortable rifle to carry around for a long day of airsofting. It's heavy and very long, so moving in and out of cover to shoot is sluggish and makes it hard to be competitive. Logically, you would play more as a long-range marksman than an assaulter, but unfortunately, the out of box performance just isn't good enough to be playing at long ranges. It's not bad, it's just not amazing either. I plan to one day open it up and increase the power, but I already know that with this gearbox, it will be a harder task to keep it running long-term over a traditional V2 gearbox in an M4. If you really like the look of the M14, I'd probably just get the real wood one or the digital camo version if you can find it, because they have the best aesthetic. Don't expect to be competitive straight out of the box, though.
