Brand: Umarex

Ammunition Type: 4.5 mm steel BBs
Ammunition Capacity: 20 rounds

Trigger Pull: On the medium to heavy side. The trigger pull on this gun is a little bit longer and tougher on the 9XP compared to the discontinued Umarex SA177. The gun shoots a little harder though so the internal spring might be slightly heavier.

Accuracy: I shot the Umarex 9XP at a target from 30 feet away in a semi-rested position and it performed quite well! I had a nice 5-6 shot group dead center on the target well under a 1 inch diameter and then 4 shots came outside extending the grouping to about 2 inches, again another well centered grouping!

Build Quality: It has good weight and craftsmanship. The 9XP shares a lot of the same internal parts as the Umarex SA177 with some minor cosmetic changes to make it look less like a Glock.

Realism: The 9XP is essentially a reskin of the SA177, modeled after the popular Glock carry pistol widely used by governmental agencies. It uses blowback action to simulate a real firearm and the metal slide and integrated accessory rail add to the overall realism of this gun.

Pros:

  • Great accuracy and power combination
  • Loud, snappy blowback action for realistic shooting
  • Integrated Picatinny rail on the underside to mount accessories like flashlights
  • Full metal slide ensures reliability
  • Working safety near trigger
  • Convenient CO2 hatch in the back of the handle
  • Nice fiber optic sights
  • All metal drop-out magazine

Cons:

  • Blowback action uses more CO2
  • Long and heavy trigger pull may be tiring for extended shooting sessions
  • Non-adjustable sights

Comments: The Umarex 9XP Blowback CO2 BB Pistol is a nice replacement for the SA177. The trigger on the 9XP is a bit heavier but not by much. During the field test shooting, the 9XP shot at a speed much higher, coming in at an average of 412 fps for my 5 shot string. So if you have been wanting an SA177 but cannot find one used, grab yourself one of the Umarex 9XPs, you will not be disappointed.

Pretty good!

This airgun is great! My first impression of this gun was definitely on a good side. I'll describe this gun and paint a picture as to how it actually is for you sceptics out there debating whether or not to pick this pistol up. First off the price is very good for the performance of this gun, it is very accurate, provides many shots per c02 bulb and has a very snappy blowback thats not too fair from the tw 1911 but still noticeably weaker. The gun has a medium heavy feel too it, but not as heavy as full steel guns. This is due to the polymer frame which is everything but the slide. The gun also feels off balance because the slide is metal and heftier and the body is a lighter high quality plastic which may cause it to feel kinda of awkward in the beginning but isn't a big deal at all. The molding of the handle is very comfortable to hold and provides a comfortable grip. The C02 hatch will be loose and will open very easily. If you don't experience this the first day then you definitely will the next. However, this can be fixed by placing a small strip of tape to increase girth to the area that latches on to the handle. This worked wonders for me and the latch is well secured on mine. Like i said, the gun shoots fast, has great blowback (when shooting) and is efficient on co2. My biggest complaint is that you will be disappointed the first time you rack the slide. IT'S SO LIGHT. Releasing the slide via the slide release is so sad, if you were to point the gun at the ceiling and rack the slide, it wont fully rack because the spring is insanely weak. If you can look passed this horrible slide (which i did), you'll love this gun. It shoots great, sounds great, feels great(when shooting) and is good for the price. Its not a must buy, but if you're a fan of glocks then pick this up! i recommend this if you're looking for a budget blowback plinker.Bryan M. from Mississauga Ontario
