Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the Umarex Beretta APX Blowback CO2 BB Pistol is a little different than that of the real steel APX. On the real steel APX there is actually a trigger safety and the actual gun uses a striker based system with a fairly short reset and take-up. On the replica airgun version the tiger does not have a built in safety and the reset and take-up are much longer (full length). I have read that both the real steal and BB versions of the APX both have about 6 pounds trigger pulls but I personally felt like the airgun version was heavier than that, perhaps because of the long pull. Overall the Beretta APX trigger is acceptable but not my favorite.

Accuracy: I have not shot this pistol, but based on similar blowback stick magazine BB air pistols from Umarex with around 400 FPS performance, I know that it will have a medium blowback feel and should shoot pretty close to the claimed 395 fps. I also expect at least a 2 inch or smaller 10 shot grouping from 30 feet back.

Build Quality: Very good, Beretta APX feels heavier than 1.5 pounds in the hand, perhaps because it is a compact gun. The metal slide, metal stick mag and internal metal parts all help to balance off the polymer frame nicely. Fit and finish is also good.

Realism: Other than the added safety and missing trigger safety, this is a really close replica to the real steel APX. The added safety does not stand out too much and does serve a purpose. The missing trigger safety could have been added for show at least, if an actual working safety could not be added. Other than that the Umarex Beretta APX CO2 Blowback BB Pistol is very close to the Beretta APX, with its full licensing, open ejection port, recessed barrel working slide catch release and blowback operation.

Pros:

  • Great weight and feel, build quality seems really good
  • Really nice replica of the original Beretta APX in most ways
  • Working slide catch and release
  • Fully Beretta licensed
  • Easy to see white dot sights front and back
  • Recessed barrel and open ejection port for added realism
  • Lower Picatinny rail for laser or tactical light
  • Stick magazine but plate gives the elusion of a full size magazine and covers the CO2 tab
  • Warning instruction are nice and discreet!

Cons:

  • Trigger is a bit long and perhaps heavier than the real steel APX trigger. It also does not have the trigger safety.
  • Stick magazine rather than a full size magazine
  • Sights are non-adjustable, which is common on airguns like this one

Comments: It's always nice to get another airgun replica for fans of that particular real steel gun so they have a low cost shooting option they can use in a lot more locations for some safe trigger time. The Umarex Beretta APX Blowback CO2 BB Pistol is a great addition for sure and it's also nice that it is somewhat Glock-like in looks and operation for those Glock fans out there that are having a tuff time locating a Glock airgun replica :) Other than my trigger beef, I really like this gun.

The Trigger on the APX Is A Dog That Won't Hunt

In my locking gun vice, the APX shot straight on the horizontal plane, but 1.5" high vertically. The 10 shot control group was 1.25" and I was somewhat excited by this performance. However, in the hand it was a different story. With an endlessly long trigger pull to get to the only tactile clue that the trigger was ready to release - but it wasn't! You still have 5-6mm to go before it releases AND it's a guessing game of 2-3mm to final release almost every time. Now I realize that I may have bought the only APX lemon ever made as the reviews here are very good and influenced my purchase. But as they are mass produced without much care, I kind of doubt that I bought the only lemon and, unlike many guys I've met in life, I can and do admit when I pay good money for a bad performer. This is a bad one and the APX steel BB pistol will not be going into my collection. It is filed in my box of atrocious buys. Look elsewhere. This is not the pistol you want. Not if you're a shooter.

Great pistol all around!

Pistol feels great to shoot. Gonna definitely pair this with my primary for an upcoming private airsoft match! Slide is a bit clanky, but nothing a bit of gun oil can't fix. Overall a great pistol, I highly recommend it!

Great Buy

I thought this was going to be a mediocre gun but I was pleasantly surprised by both the accuracy, power and co2 conservation. For such a reasonably priced gun I have nothing bad to say about this at all. This is now my second favorite pistol.

Surprised

I have to admit, for $90 I wasn’t expecting much. But… This is a great little gun. First of all and loads extremely easily. The spring loaded feeder locks in place at the bottom and there is a perfect little bevelled round hole on the side of this stick mag to allow extremely easy BB feeding. This is a single action trigger so it has a bit of a longer pull, but when it does release this little gun packs quite a punch. I also got four full magazines out of one CO2 cartridge so that’s about 80 rounds for $.99 worth of CO2 shooting dust devils. It lacks the realistic feel of a semi automatic blow back pistol but the weight is good in your hand and it is coming in second to the Smith and Wesson M&P 40 as a perfect little training gun for tactical maneuvers. I am unable to get spare magazines in Canada for this gun right now, but that will certainly add to the enjoyment once they are in stock. Once again, thank you to replica airguns for their excellent service.

Great for the price

Gun is perfect for the price. Only issue I have is the side clip sometimes doesn't work. I have to manually push it up. Can't figure out why it's doing that. Heard of a few other people with the same issue

Very Nice

I am super satisfied for the price. It is really precise. The look is magnificent. The grip is pleasant. The trigger lacks a bit of resistance. The weight, I personally find that it could have been better balanced with a metal charger in the grip. The rifle would have been perfect. But basically I really recommend it. The monetary argument cancels the small defaults.
