Not quite, Try again

Owning a 9mm Steyr L9-A1 myself, I had hoped this sorta-replica would have a few more Steyr-related qualities as the Real McCoy - other than the overall molded shape and dimensional geometry. Alas, it falls quite short in this regard. On the side of price it is a reasonably sound design of the generic CO2 pistol that has nothing new let alone revolutionary in it. It's reasonably accurate from 20 feet. It has decent velocity. It seems reliable - at least to this point in time as I have only put 2 x 12g CO2 cylinders worth of BBs through it. One other positive is that ASG's generic barrel for BBs could care less whether it spat out Hornady, Umarex, Copperhead, Crosman or Daisy BBs -, they all go as true as the gun is capable of from a nested & rested position. Each brand of BB put about 85-90% of its projectiles within a 2.25" diameter circle and the remaining 10-15% were either just outside OR were those 'shake-your-head' flyers that would puzzle any ballistician. At the end of everything, I find this gun to be like virtually every other no-blow, CO2 BB pistol out there, but with a little bit of a Steyr skin draped over it. While this CO2 pistol is certainly nothing special at the price - in my experience - I must say in its defense that I have shot considerably poorer pistols yet was given the privilege of paying nearly twice the price for the pain!. So at least in that regard, this ASG design for a generic, no-blow CO2 pistol appears to be reliable and respectable for casual, non-competitive shooting where accuracy speed drills and quick reloads are not part of your expectations. But, as with EVERY 'replica' handgun I have ever shot, excepting a few revolvers capable of cocking into single-action mode, the trigger on this pistol is ABYSMAL. That may come as a bit of a surprise to folks who've never shot an explosive-actuated pistol but the trigger on this CO2 version in NO WAY comes within a light-year of its big brother.To summarize,this generic CO2, no-blow pistol is an OK performer but gives the shooter little sense of the Steyr 9mm L9-A1. Without even the Trapezoidal Sights that Steyr is know for, and a trigger that is absolutely hideous, this replica utterly fails to replicate most of what the Steyr M9-A1 is all about. In closing, there are people willing to pay $250 per unit for high quality replica BB / PT pistols that are full scale, working models of the real thing. The metal does not have to be Cro-Moly nor the barrels Cold Hammer forged, but when I can buy a CANiK TP9SA at Cabela for $600; a 9mm pistol that passes the NATO 30,000 round Reliability Test Protocol with flying colors, fires perfectly after baths in mud, wet sand and even while full of water; is it really too much to expect from ASG, Umarex, Daisy etc.,to build real replicas that at least make an attempt to replicate the feel and action of its bigger brothers - not just the looks? Think about it.
