Trigger Action: The Umarex Walther CP99 features a double-action trigger pull that is moderate in effort, mainly in the initial and mid-phases as it cocks the hammer and rotates the magazine. However, it offers a predictable release, facilitating accurate pellet targeting. Engaging the rear slide switches the CP99 to a single-action mode, significantly lightening the trigger pull, which is ideal for precision shooting.

Shooting Precision: Firing from a semi-rested stance 20 feet away, the air pistol achieved a compact one-inch grouping of eight shots slightly to the left of the target. The windage-adjustable sights can be tweaked if your aim is slightly off-center. In preliminary chronograph tests with 6.9-grain RWS lead pellets, the velocity nearly matched the stated 360 fps, averaging around 346 fps.

Manufacturing Quality: The Umarex Walther CP99 combines metal and polymer, with substantial metal internals contributing to its overall heft. Notably, it features a full-size drop-out magazine for CO2 storage, adding weight and functionality. German craftsmanship ensures a high-quality finish, and the polymer used is also of superior grade.

Authenticity: Licensed by Walther, the CP99 is modeled after the Walther P99, with a frame closely resembling the original. However, the slide's design deviates slightly from the real P99, making the pellet-firing CP99 a discernible replica. A notable divergence is the safety - the real P99 lacks one, but the CP99 includes a prominent safety on the right slide. The functional de-cocker, slide catch, and full-size magazine enhance the CP99's realistic aspects.

Pros:

  • Functional slide catch and de-cocker.
  • Rifled barrel for improved accuracy.
  • Windage-adjustable sights.
  • Authentic slide catch and magazine release mechanisms.
  • Substantial full-size CO2 magazine.
  • An efficient blend of power, accuracy, and CO2 usage, yielding around 100 shots per cartridge.
  • Accessory rail included.
  • Official Walther licensing.
  • German manufacturing standards.

Cons:

  • Priced at the higher end.
  • Some stickiness in double-action shots.
  • Typical safety design, not mirroring the real Walther P99.
  • Barrel is not recessed.

Comments:

The Umarex Walther CP99 Pellet CO2 Air Pistol is a significant upgrade from the Walther CP Sport. It offers a closer resemblance to the P99, enhanced with more metal components and both single and double-action triggers. These features come with an added cost but are justified for enthusiasts of the Walther series, making the CP99 an excellent addition to any airgun arsenal.

Handy Casual Plinker

This is a good quality handgun useful for plinking at pop cans. At 25 feet I hit 24 times of 24 shots. Target shooting is a different issue. Light weight and short barrel work against target practice. I like the gun and would buy it again.

CP99 Review

I had this gun years ago but ended up selling at one point. I recently bought it back and I can definitely say the quality is still there. German made of course. The double action trigger does required a good amount of force but single action is best for achieving those precise shots. One thing I notice from the old version I used to have is the white engravings are really popping out compared with old version which was more subtle. Nevertheless it is a fun gun to shoot and even now I still feel the same enjoyment I did many years ago. The case it comes is also of higher quality. I wish umarex will one day resurrect the Walther Nighthawk.

Great value and quality.

Germans build a great Walther line of CO2 pistols. This is one of them. Had a CPS sport and it was great. This is a great improvement over the CPS sport. It is a great 10-15 foot free hand fun shooting gun with great action. Light and accurate. Notice the safety is a bit sticky. Love the double action. As well, since it uses the 8 shot rotating mag use the RWS Meisterkugeln pellets for accuracy and ease of loading as it’s a quality line of pellets. I used daisy pellets once and these were not manufactured uniformly like the RWS Meisterkugeln pellets. The daisy pellets would bind or not go into the mag hole at all.

Thanks alot...

An odd subject line, but we'll come to that.I have been hesitating doing this review, I've done a couple others, but this one is unique. I bought this air pistol on a lark, I was in a store with a whole display of what looked to a Canadian who's only exposure to guns was American TV as a virtual armory, the one that drew my eye was the Walther - (as an an aside, come on guys... Walther? To boys of the 80's that's like 308GTB, and Farrah). Anyway; where was I? Oh yah.I'm standing there, looking bewildered that there was a display of handguns in a Canadian store when some well spoken university student says "would you like to see a pellet gun?".Being the man of the world that I am (at least in my own mind), I didn't skip a beat. "Oh yes, I am very interested in that Walther" At this point I let his salesmanship fill in a few decades of missing knowledge. Anyway, bottom line, the Walther CP99; my first modern air gun, I will not be crass to compare it to other firsts except to say this was the one the others needed to live up to.So my new adventure began, I took my CP99 apart and put it back together again so many times I figured even the most hateful drill sergeant would be impressed. Time goes by, the 7 week itch hits me for the first time. Well my CP99 is great and all... (you can fill in the rest).Bottomline, I have spent a lot of money after that little lark, scratching that constant 7 week itch, (hence the title), but if I had to chose right now, it would be my CP99 and the Baikal MP-654K that I would keep, because they; in different ways are what I am always looking for.If you are a better man than me and only want one, the CP99 is it, looks great, feels amazing, nice and heavy, shoots well, working mag and slide.Do it... but in 7 weeks don't blame me.

Nice Pistol

Great little pistol. My wife wanted a CO2 pellet gun after seeing my recent Beretta M92FS which was too heavy for her to hold comfortably. The CP99 was the perfect weight and is mostly metal which gave it a very nice feel. Getting used to the trigger but out of the box, the accuracy was pretty good. I think I may like this one better than my M92FS too!
